Many times people don't understand that they are paying for this software, since it appears to be included with the hardware at no additional charge. Proprietary Software Licensing can add thousands of dollars, to the cost of your computer hardware. Given the rapid advances in the field of computer science, these costs can reoccur every three or four years. Beware of both the costs of using proprietary software and the restrictions on the ways that you can use it. Often these licenses do not allow you to legally transfer them to new equipment or sell them to other people when you no longer need to use the software.
